Poonch - The Battlefield of Kashmir

The Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir State is located in the Southwestern foothills of Pir Panchal Range. The terrain of this region varies from sub-tropic to temperate zone. The upper areas of Mandi and Surankote touching the main Pir Panchal range resemble the climatic conditions of Kashmir Valley, while Mendhar and Lower Poonch Block fall under the Sub-tropic zone.
